Repainting Plasterboard inside wall.

The flat roof was leaking (now fixed) but they have been left with a damp wall
which is they think, made of plasterboard.
The wall has now been dried (hopefully) using a Halegon heater.
It was mentioned in a magazine that to remove the damaged wallpaper the wall should be moistened in the usual way to help remove the wallpaper - surely if this was done the wall would be nearly impossible to dry afterwords.
Someone also mentioned that a coating of Woodstain should be used - is this to protect the wall before the wallpapering and/or painting is done.

Ahhh....... would have been easier to strip the paper while the wall was still damp :o(
No matter. Wet the paper up in the usual way and remove it. Let the board dry out naturally then. When it's ready, paint or paper as normal.
I know everyone has their own favourite ways of doing things, but I've never heard of woodstain used in this way. It'll all dry out in time. No need for anything fancy :o)

I have heard of people using varnish on a bare plaster wall prior to painting or wall papering but t's a silly thing to do so don't do it!
