Rented property
The frontage of our rented property is overgrown with dandelions and thistles and has been since we moved in during July. A company came to measure it for putting shingle down but the letting agent says the landlady hasn't got back to them to give the go ahead. We pay quite a large rent and it seems wrong that we have to put up with it. The back garden was bad as well but at least it had some grass and we have hacked our way through and mown it and planted some shrubs. I know the letting agents really do their job on behalf of the landlord but they are quite snotty when we ask if it's ever going to be done, it looks horrible. Shall I keep on at them or just learn to live with it?

Is there anything mentioned in your agreement about maintenance?
What was said about it before you moved in?
You could either tackle it yourself as you have with the rear or write a letter to the agents saying what youve said here - i.e. high rent, garden should be maintained etc.

The front is 2 peices of land each about 13ft by 10ft with the garden path in the middle, it's open plan. The letting agent said "I can assure you it will be sorted out before you move in" Tenancy agreement says garden to be maintained which is fair enough but apart from digging all the weeds up and turfing it ourselves or shingling it ourselves, which obviously we are not going to do, how do you maintain a load of weeds.
