My father has recently died and left his house to me. Can I sell it to my daughter privately without going through all the normal procedures ?

how will you tranfer ownership if you dont use a lawyer and record the change of ownership at the land registry
also when you sell it to her in an unofficial manner are you going to pay her coucil tax as the ownership is still in your name and the bills have your name
what if she gets into debt by not paying her council tax and you are liable for the debt
this is so not a good idea
If it is your house you can sell it to who you like. It would have to be done officially though. That way your daughter becomes the owner and is responsible as the owner. It is no different than selling to anyone else.
