How much rent?

My friend has recently split up with her husband and moved out. I live on my own and so have said that she can live in my spare room for a while.

My problem is, how much rent do I charge her? I have no idea what the going rate is but she only works part time on minmum wage so I know she can't afford a lot.

Any ideas would be welcomed!

You will lose your 25% council tax discount straight away, so you must have enough to cover that.

How about a nominal rent - say �20 a week, plus half of the utility bills?

That sounds good, I never thought about the council tax! I don't want to charge her much as she won't really be costing me any extra so I think what you have suggested sounds about right.
