laws?
does anyone know the laws about putting spikes onto a fence, as my neighbour has put spikes on the fence even though they know that our cats just sit on the wall is it illegal for them to do that or does it count on the type of spike?

Having just put spikes on our 6 ft. high gates to stop a cat getting onto a single storey roof and then into our bedroom window I am more concerned that there are no laws preventing cats going anywhere. Provided signs are put up warning about the spikes, the spikes are legal. I have yet to find a cat that can read!!!
Personally I would shoot the cat but that is illegal.

Have you asked your neighbours why they have put spikes onto the fence? Do you do anything about stopping your cats from roaming beyond your garden and if not, Why? Do you think that is acceptable that your animals can roam across other people's property? I am actually allergic to cats so you may understand where I am coming from.

Yes, I actually hate cats with a vengance. Why should I have to put up with a cat coming into my house because the bedroom window was open. They spray urine or whatever everywhere, crap in my garden kill small birds etc. I cannot understand why anyone would want such a filthy animal in their house climbing over all their furniture and beds leaving their scent/smell everywhere. I caught the cat in our house at 4.30 a.m. about 3 months ago and held it under our outside tap for about 5 minutes until it was nearly drowned but it still has tried to come back. If I catch it again I have a box ready and plan to take it 50 miles away to some moors and let it go. We have complained to its owner who just said 'well what do you expect its a cat'
So yes I am serious.

What is wrong is our not being able to have a window open or leave our back door open whilst in our garden. Not even for 30 seconds in case the stupid cat gets in again.
What is wrong is being woken up at 4.30 a.m. by a cat jumping onto our bed.
What is wrong is its owner not caring what the cat does.
If your neighbours dog is a nuisance you can tell your local council and they have to do something about it, its the law. Unfortunately this law does not apply to cats.
I have just found a web site selling cat traps so I might go and invest in one.
Look on the bright side I could run it over.
Shaking - how did you know by real name!!!!

An interesting line of argument developing here, but as someone who lives next door to a dotty woman who takes in stray cats, I do have some sympathy for ethandron. At the last count she has around 5 or 6 cats, and as we have none, they head straight for our garden morning noon and night to crap and generally use our lawn as their litter tray.
I believe that as usual, the problem here rests solely with the politicians and the law makers in this country. Crap is crap no matter which animal it originates from, and all dog owners are legally liable and responsible for their animals waste. So why is cat poo any different or less offensive than dog poo?
