^zeb, I do that too, I wouldn't put a dirty jar in the bin or waste the label if the tins are going to be crushed. It doesn't take a minute to take off the labels when you are washing the tins.
Yes, I remeber now boxtops- tetrapacks go in the paper/card bin but the website and leaflets don't say whether you should include the plastic ring/spout. I cut them off but it's not easy and I often end up cutting my hand!
Similarly the site doesn't say whether we should remove labels from cans ( I do and put them in with the paper) or whether we should wash tins etc.
And when I put toilet rolls cardboard tubes in should I remove those stubborn last few little bits of tissue paper?
1) factor - I put my toilet roll inners in the compost bin, they go down really well - but if you were putting them in cardboard, no I wouldn't bother !
2) Zeb - yes I agree. If the label doesn't come off easily when I wash the jar, I just put the jar + label in the glass bin.
