GBH case

In July of last year on the way home from a family gathering in a pub/restaurant a friend of my nephew came behind us shouting insults at him, when he got closer my partner and his cousin tried to calm the boy down, to which we thought had worked. As we walked away the boy came behind and struck the cousin who fell to the floor, as my partner turned he also was struck causing him to fall on top of his cousin. The boy then ran. He returned 5 mins later with family who were under the impression he was the one who had been hit, as the family members who were also known to us all as neighbours in same street seen the injuries caused they automaticaly agreed we were the ones harmed and not the boy who was claiming self defence. My partner who is father to out 2 children is 6 ft and 16 stone had his lip tore off needing 7 stiches and has left alot of scaring, his cousin who is also same size, wore glasses whick broke and caused servere damage to eye and face, the police believe the boy carried a knuckle duster but as none of us seen this as it was so fast it cannot be proved. Also while we were waiting for the ambulance the boy who was still as we think high and very drunk, struck the cousins girlfriend in the eye causing only bruising, and hit my partner again breaking his nose which he has since had surgery. This sounds as if we just stood round letting this happen but i had to hold both men back to stop them attacking the boy as he was only 17 at the time and i was affraid they would end up on the wrong side of the law.
Any the reason for this long story (sorry) is we are now waiting for crown court the boy is still claiing self defence and not guilty even though he never got touched from anyone. He has been charged with 2 x GBH without intent and 1x commen assault. Can anyone give any advice or idea on how this could go in court we are so worried he will get off for this.

So this has cost NHS time and money stitching together your partner and cousin....
Police time ...
No wonder this country is in a mess !
In court ...oh he will get let off or get a £50 fine and a spell in the park picking litter ...
Don't worry however , us tax payers will keep on contributing so you have all the resources you need to clear up after your next family punchup.

you got this all wrong, it was NOT a family punch up we do not know the boy who attacked us at all!!! it was an unprovoked attack on us walking home after a family meal, as for tax payers myself and partner also pay taxes and agree we would also like it to be for better reasons than for what we needed, heaven above if you should ever have to go through this we never asked for it, it has been a terrible experience for me my partner and our 2 children.
your comment seems to think you have a clear opinion of the people you think we are though why youve made this judgement is beyond me, we are infact both working parents with degree's and not what you seem to think we are, refering to "next family punch up" this happens to be our first experience with the police in any capacity!
