I have the worst flushing toilet system - I did buy expensive toilet rolls but they stuck now I use the thinnest I can find. still they sick anybody the flush is flushing but sucking down is poor - my plumber says it is just a bad flushing system. Anything I can try.
Just to suggest your problem is about the paper and in reality it is about the suction of your flush.
I think you need to get a plumber in to look at the air flows in your pipe and sugegst a correction. Saying it's a poor flushing system isn't a lot of help. He's supposed to be the expert and suggest ways he can solve it.
Perhaps the ceramics on the U bend might not have been completely covered and the paper is sticking, further deposits of paper etc. will cause a build up, and consequently your attempts at flushing will not clear the blockage. A bucket of water down the pan usually works, but ths is not ideal. Hope this helps.
Connie ........... do you have ordinary standard type of WC, or is it something unusual?
If it's standard, syphons can easily be replaced ...... assuming your present one is simply faulty.
Could it be?... I once had to use caustic soda on the outside drain after my wife flushed a huge wadge of toilet paper down our loo. Well, it's what women do, isn't it? I told her, however much paper she needs, not to use a single big wadge, but to make it up by tearing off only two sheets at a time. This allows the paper to separate and to be flushed away much more easily.
I hate to agree with a mere male - but heathfield has a point. I tend to use way too much toilet paper when I visit the ladies. Sometimes it has problems flushing away and I have to flush it a few times. And female hygiene can clog up the pipes too - I stopped flushing them away.
