Landlor certificate

Got someone coming next week to service the central heating and issue a landlord certificate. There is a gas fire with the boiler behind it. We don't use the fire and I have taken the loose, ornamental coal things off it (to stop thing 1 and thing 2 losing them). Should I put them back before the heating engineer comes? (Know vaguely where they are but will need to actually find them.) Thanks.

I dont see why you should need the loose coal, all he will need to know is if everything is working OK. He can probably test it without the coal.

he will not pass the fire as safe to use w/o the coals and the coals must be in their correct position on the supports, as stated in the manufacturers instructions. you may notice in the M.I.s that a great deal of attention is given to this.
