Has anyone bought one of these mattresses(possibly from Argos) that come rolled up so that you can easily get them home? Considering getting my son one for uni but can they be any good if you can roll them up?

I have to buy rolled up mattresses, (not enough headroom on my staircase to ge a conventional one up there). However, they cost about £300 and once released could not be rolled up again. Not much help to you, sorry.
They are fine, it's just the air is excluded to enable it to be rolled. Often you buy pillows like that too.
Must be a foam one, as it would knacker the springs.

I am not a fan of foam mattresses - in my experience they rapidly get a permanent depression where the body lies.
If it's springs, don't do it! I had to buy a new mattress a few months back and, as it was from IKEA, then realised I had to somehow get it in the car.... so I folded it in half.
I wake up with a bad back, literally every morning. The springs are knackered!
