but there was a bit on our local news about the council installing solar panels on some houses. They showed them installing them and they put them over the tiles - I honestly would have thought they took the tiles off and put them on like windows, so the sun would shine through them to heat the house! You live and learn....

Er, yes lankeela, the panels are filled with water which heat up.....

:) Not surprising really, for years I thought an immersion heater was spelt emersion cos thats how it sounds. Was years later I found out it was because the element was 'immersed'
