Can anyone recommend a good online or high street retailer of this item. I have tried two seats in the last 3 months and they were rubbish. One broke and the other glazed around the circumference. many thanks

John Lewis have some wooden ones available
looked at some in wickes at the weekend which seemed ok.
Treat yourself to a nice "soft close" seat. These are wood veneer over MDF. Sound odd, but it makes sense. Much more stable than solid wood (won't crack, or split down the grain)

We bought one for a tenner from B&Q warehouse it's fine but what you must do is when you close it all the rubber studs underneath the seat are touching the toilet, because if not any slight rocking and you will break it
Don't waste your money on the soft close - they start hard closing all on their own after a number of months.
