I have a small TV upstairs which has a broken remote control. I have a universal remote control called "Total Control" and I'd like to use it for the upstairs TV. The TV is called "Panasonic Quintrix" (it's about 25 years old). How do I find the instructions including the code for the remote, for this particular TV? I'll be so grateful if anyone can tell me. I'd love to be able to use a remote for my TV. Thanks

I take it you have the instruction manual for the universal remote?

Try each of these codes and see if they work:

PANASONIC ...... 007 107 516 608 618 718 807 901

The Winner, thank you very much. The remote doesn't recognise three figure numbers though. Where did you get them from? Thanks again. I have looked through the booklet you gave and tried all the four figure numbers suggested for Panasonic but no luck.

Is there another instructon book for the "Total Control", because the one in the picture is not mine? (my universal remote is old as well)
Try and find out the model of your Total Control unit. Take the cover off where you put the batteries in and it might be noted there. Then google
Total Control universal remote control model number .................... and see if the instruction manual (plus help) shows up.
I found this for you. If it was me, for under a tenner, I'd just get one.

The Winner, thank you so much for you're help, you're brilliant. I'm just rushing out again now and will have a proper look later. I tried with my Total Control doing the thing where it says alternate between pressing "TV" and pressing "Power" a hundred and fifty times, I did that, and none of it worked. Maybe my TV is too old. I think it's coming up to thirty years old and maybe universal remotes don't allow for ones that old. Do you think that Quintrix remote might work with my TV, I was wondering cos it looks nothing like the original one I have.
Hi notafish, read my post that was above the one linking you to amazon. If you find the model number of your original remote, I will do a search for you and see what I can come up with.

There's a sticker inside where the batteries go, it says G062401. Thank you very much.
Question Author
Oh, there's another sticker that says URC 11-2420 R00
C F9X JY-C0C7 EC
it's inside the lid bit of the battery compartment.

Ignore my last two posts, they're on the Total Control remote control :-(
I'll go and look at the other remote. . . .

TQF37520 is in really small print on a sticker about battery instructions, which is stuck inside the lid of the battery compartment. But I don't think that means anything. The Panasonic Quintrix remote also has "INFRARED CONTROL" on it. Do you think it's too old fashioned to work with any other remotes. I think I might not be able to use this TV anymore when the digital TV switchover thing happens. I've had this TV since I was 20, so that's a shame. Thank you very much for your help. Sorry, I don't understand what to do with the last link you sent me.
Re. the last link, you would click on 'P' for PANASONIC, and it gives you codes to try. If it doesn't work, I don't think I can help any more, but good luck! If it doesn't work, I would try the unit offered on Amazon.

Thanks The Winner, you're really kind. I would consider buying that remote on Amazon but I think I won't be able to use this TV after the digital switchover.
You should be able to get a digital set top box that will work with your ancient TV. I got one of these to connect to a TV which doesn't have a scart socket and it worked fine before and after digital switchover. This STB comes with its own remote control so I don't need the one that belongs to the set.
