I don't know whether I misheard a statement that adding dishwasher Finish to the window cleaning water results in a smear free finish. Besides the normal additions i.e. meths, vinegar, and wiping off with newspaper, has anyone heard of using Finish.
The windows are K Glass and are the worst windows to clean after forty years of smear free success.

Oldm, if you use just water, with or without a spot of washing up liquid, and SCRIMS, you will never have a smeary window. Wipe with wet scrim and dry off with a dry scrim. Once bought they will last you for years. And they don't scratch your window like newspapers.

Thanks ladybirder, I'll give them a try. There seems to be two grades, normal or pre-washed and laundered. Other than the price, do you have any recommendation ?
Many thanks for reply.
Well a window cleaner told me that the more you use them the better they get and I have found this to be true. They get softer and more pliable with use so I would think buying them pre-washed would be better. If you find them a little hard to start with, put them in a pan on the stove and let them simmer in water for an hour or two. That should soften them up. Just make sure you use only water, no need to buy these expensive window cleaning squirty products.
Where do you buy SCRIMS?
Tilly see my first post and scroll down on link.

Blimey boxy those are expensive on your link.
Amazon, Lakeland, and lots on Google (''window scrims''). Linen is best, though pricier.
You might try 'HG Window Cleaner'. Excellent results and economical. Two or three teaspoonsful in half a bucket of warm water. Squeegee off. No streaks. Beats all those spray bottles by a mile.
I don't clean our windows very often....
I have always found this chore a right pain. I use water with a splash of w/u liquid, skimmed of with a squeegy, then buffed up with a dry cloth. It takes best part of a day (lots of windows) but no matter how much elbow grease I use to buff up, when the sun comes round it is still smeary. I now employ one of those guys with a long brush and de-ionised water. For £10 its money well spent. Be careful though. I have been quoted £25 by eastern European types doing exactly the same.
Johnny you do not get smears with scrims.
I have recently bought a Karcher Window Vac - brilliant piece of kit, works wonders on the windows and also on shower doors.
Quite fancy one of those towie, what model did you buy?

I got this one, bella - I am not a gadget person normally, but had seen this demonstrated on Ideal World Shopping Channel and was very impressed. It is brilliant.
towie, it would have to be good at that price !
We have a window cleaner for the outsides, it's the insides which are a pain in the butt, with 3 catz looking out....
It is Anne and cuts the time down for cleaning windows and also those blessed shower doors.
My shower doors are wiped down as soon as I finish showering. The don't need anything more. Clean as you go make life much easier (and cheaper).
I do clean my shower doors with the Karcher after every time I take a shower.
Really. Wow.
