How do I stop slugs and snails eating my hostas? There was a programme on TV some while ago and this lady had the answer. Can anybody remember it?

I liberally sprinkle slug pellets all around them as soon as they start to 'leaf' have had no slug probs since.
everywhere I have ever seen hostas grown successfully, they had acid soil...so maybe pant them in ericaceous compost?
My local cafe gives away used coffee grounds to sprinkle around hostas and I have just ordered copper strips.
You could put slug pellets or salt around them.
We do a slug and snail harvest most evenings, and they get launched into space with an old barbecue fish-slice (nice and springy) to find new homes at the end of the field at the bottom of the garden.
We used to do that Kiki until next door got a bigger fish slice and it became the neighbourhood snail tennis.
Snail tennis, that could catch on. I've played wasp tennis in a tent with a couple of saucepans, but never thought of snail tennis before.
Nearly forgot Embee. I like pistachio nuts and sprinkle the shells around hostas in pots.
I know you like '' nuts '' gness. lol
Still got the saucepans Kiki? Tony tennis this evening?
Bloody hell, you ain't playing tennis with my ''nuts ''. lol
I've had great success with mine by keeping them in half barrels with three bands of copper tape round, works a treat for me!
Here's some from last year
