Last night I managed to blow up the hoover by running over the lead, would this have an effect on the components inside the hoover or would I just need to replace the lead? I've only had the hoover a week and last night was the first time I've used it, what a numpty!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it was me I would sort the break in the lead by cutting out the damaged bit, rejoin obviously, making sure all connections are done properly and insulated correctly, check the fuse in the plug ... which should have blown and replace it. What kind of hoover is it? You may have broken the belt which drives the brush...No not you, your just as daft as one and dont call yourself a numpty, putting yourself down like that when there are plenty of people lining up to do it.
