I'm not sure if Vanish has a biological ingredient if it doesn't you should add a measure of bio washing powder when you soak.

I have some beautiful old linen sheets and desperately want to save them too.

I found Vanish worked a treat when I was given some lovely old linen that had gone discoloured from being kept in a drawer.
This sheet was part of my grandmother's 'wedding chest', so you can see why I am keen to rescue it.

The yellowing from ageing is quite different to what your are trying to remove this time, hence the need for a biological component.

Sorry there was a word missing from my first post. I *would* want to save them too.

The ones I inherited had been stored in acid free tissue and were immaculate, although one had a small repair made to it. I sat and stared at the repair because it was some of the finest workmanship I had ever seen, probably done almost 100yrs ago!
