Having replaced carpet with laminate flooring in through lounge/dining room, how do you deal with the resulting 'echoing' in the room? This was an unexpected side effect of losing the carpet. If you have experienced this, how did you cure it? All ideas welcome.
Once you get all your furnishings in and curtains hung up it'll be better. Soft furnishings absorb noise which your carpet was doing. You will also get used to it after a while
Having to re-decorate our open plan downstairs, I can understand what your saying. Until I got all the furniture and the heavy curtains put back I had an echo to the room.
So, a lot of it depends on your soft furnishings and their ability to absorb sound. It also depends on foot wear, some with hard heels and soles are noisier.
Not sure if the laminate flooring underlay would also make a difference, we have a good quality one which does well in reducing noise and keeping warmth in.
Thank you folks. Will have to see how it works out.Furniture is back and curtains but it still echoes. Perhaps a rug or two might help. And slippers are de rigeur except for visitors!
This is one of several reasons why I won't have laminate /wooden flooring.
I dislike the impersonal "waiting room" appearance. And I don't care if this IS the only house in town with carpets!
