Decorating Ideas Please..............have Just Stripped The Wallpaper

off of our living roomwall. The question is are plain white walls in at the moment,,,,or just plain colours. Do people still wallpaper.. And should I keep our fireplace, which wasnt put in by builders but we put it in . fireplace surround and
hearth or take it out again to make a plain wall.? Ideas would be grateful recieved thankyou.

Very much an individual choice. I took out a fireplace and made the wall plain. However, I did install a wall mounted fire later. All my walls are plain colours.

Wallpaper is back in fashion apparently, but I prefer plain walls. You could go for two-tone. Paint the walls one colour, and paint the chimney breast a different shade of the same colour. Taupe/buff colours are in at the moment. I`d keep the fireplace as well because it`s a feature.

Keep the fireplace in- if you like it. A lot of our rooms have two or three white walls, with one (round fireplace?) with printed wallpaper or a strongly coloured paint. Is all personal choice of course. Our living room is browns and creams, as they are quite relaxing.

I've always had wallpaper, but have changed to cream walls and added a touch of colour. I love red so on the main focus wall got my son to cut 2 huge circles and cut a circle out the middle, painted them red and huge them on the wall and put the cut out circles on as well. Added metal wall hanging and a few black photo frames on the other walls. Red curtains, cushions , light shade, standard lamp and table lamp, cream sofas. Light and airy through the day, warm and cosy at night with the lamps on. It really depends on your taste.

I can't understand why you want to know what's "in" and what's not.
Why don't you do things that YOU like, and not what fashion dictates?
(From somebody who will NOT have laminate/wooden flooring - because I dislike it, intensely!).

gingejbee, Yes you are very right. I don't know really why I asked what is in or not but really just wanted some input and ideas. Sorry but I love laminate/wooden flooring . x Brenda
