Where's My Gas Meter?

I realise this is a dumb question but I'm not in the mood for smart arse comments.

I realised I haven't given any meter readings for a while. Normally some bloke just comes and takes them so I never know where from. I've found one, under the mains switch box but assuming that's electric. Where's the other likely yo be?

Do you have a white cupboard thingy on the outside of the house?

Might be under the kitchen sink. Have you got a cellar? Might be down there. What about an outside cabinet? Some houses have the meters in there.

There is a box outside, assumed that just the water meter. And I don't have the little plastic key to get in it.

Maybe the water and gas are in there?

Could you try getting it open with a pair of pliers? Or does a neighbour have a key you could borrow?

Well the mother pluckers have just sent me a £350 gas bill so I'm pretty sure I do.

A water meter doesn't live in a box that needs a plastic key to get into it, so that might be where your gas meter is. You can probably get a key from a DIY shop.

I did get re-dressed and went outside to find the box unlocked so got my reading now. Thanks all.
