Mr Spudqueen is about to lay a new laminate floor in the kitchen. He has the foam underlay, but is unsure as to whether to leave the existing lino in place as it is in good condition and will be a faff to remove. Any views?

I did mine about 5 years ago and left lino in place, it doesn't seem to have caused any problems so I would say leave it in place.

Thanks for that. It's just what Mr Spudqueen wanted to hear!
In fact, leaving the linoleum adds to the foam underlayment in subduing the noise factor sometimes encountered with laminate flooring...
leave it as my friend put her laminate floor over carpet when she moved into the fold. her cousin decided to lift the carpet and had to get nearly road diggers to get it off as it was horrendously stuck on.
