Hi , can anyone tell me when you have replacement double glazed units fitted , should the company replace the rubber seal ( I am told this is called gasket ) ? The company I employed used my 25 yr old sealer which is ill fitting and brittle .

You're right Lin, but I can maybe see why this has happened. I guess you have had replacement glazing only ......... installed in existing windows? Was it a glazing company that you had, as opposed to a upvc window company? A regular glazing Co. might not have the gaskets for all uPVC windows they come across. I agree they should be geared up for these...

Once the gasket is taken out it is rendered practically useless,I would get them back and make them refit with new.
They sound like cowboys - get them back to do the job properly.

I agree they should be geared up for these eventualities. Glazing is only as good as the gasket.
