How do i cut stainless steel tubing without damaging the tube.
I'd like to use a tube cutter ,but that may leave marks on the tube ,or i suppose a fine tooth hacksaw may do it?.I had thought of a fine disc on a grinder ,but that may be a bit harsh.

If your tube cutter will cut ss. tube wrap some insulating tape around the are traversed by the rollers. A fine hacksaw will do it but there is a good chance of the blade skidding and scatching the tube so if possible find some plastic tube that is a tight fit around it and use it as a vice grip, saw guide and scratch protector. It should work if you are using a disc cutter too but just abutt the plastic pipe to the cutting line so that the waste end is uncovered.
They do make a tube cutter for SS tube. Same principle as a regular copper pipe cutter, except that the rollers are hardened SS roller bearings. The cutting wheel is also on a roller bearing.
Thus no marks on the tube.

They are more expensive, but worth it if you intend to use it often.

Otherwise, jom's ideas should work well.
