Convulvus Seed

I have been out collecting seed from my ipomea/convulvus plants. But due to the wet weather we have been having where I live, the pods are all mushy and the seed is all swollen as if its trying to germinate.
I have collected and wrapped the seed in tissue paper to soak up the moisture.
Will the seed be still viable for next year or has the excess moisture triggered germination and drying the seed damage them.TAI

Just a comment but the seeds had to be on restricted sale here because the kids were using them for a high

It's probably too late, if the germination has begun inside the seed - I have the same problem with nasturtium seeds as they got very wet in the rain. Despite trying to dry them, they rotted and I had to throw them out.

I'd have thought they were ruined if you store them but might come on if you sow them now somewhere protected. I've found my Morning Glories have often self seeded and come up the next year anyway.

I agree with Prudie, rather than waste them could you plant them now and keep them somewhere frost free? it's worth taking a chance.
