I dont think so bluebird34. Sometimes I have cut mine down, taking advantage of a nice sunny day to work in the garden Jan, Feb, March. Maybe a more experienced gardener may have different views. Is it a particular shrub?
Here, in the western U.S., these sunny days and cold nights before the approaching winter are the best time to do pruning. I just finished pruning our plethora of roses and covering them for the winter, as well as pruning back some apple trees. As Tilly as stated, if you have some late flowering shrubs, one must wait until seasonal dormancy sets in, but here that was at least a month ago...
