Integrated Appliances

I have to buy a new fridge and a new freezer, do integrated appliance come with a plug or do they have to be wired in to the sockets?

One plug, as far as I am aware, same as separate fridges and freezers? Do you have to buy an integrated one though, rockette? In my experience, I wouldn't - if one part goes, you have to bin the whole lot. I have a freestanding fridge standing on top of a freestanding freezer. Suits me much better, I can also turn one off without affecting the other!

If it's a single unit then one plug. The only difference with integrated appliances is they don't come with the front fascia doors (so they can fit behind your kitchen unit doors).

They usually plug in but with something like a dishwasher (heavy load) they have a separate isolator switch. I found this out after calling a repair man in to our 'faulty' dishwasher and he found that I had moved a shelf under the sink and knocked the switch next to the plug. £50 call out charge. Idiot!

Many thanks all, just wanted to make sure I can just plug them straight in when they get here and not have to faff about looking for a sparky.

Boxy, it's two separate appliances, the freezer went about a year ago but we have a bigger one elsewhere so didn't bother replacing it, now the fridge next to it has packed up so I need two integrated to go in the same place. Bloody nuisance right before Christmas, plus it'll be even more of a nuisance trying to fit the cupboard doors on the things.

I feel disharmony is on the horizon in Chez Racoon.

I think it is now the law that all electrical appliances have to be sold with the plugs already on.
