Central Heating Power Flushing

Been told my central heating system needs power flushing and could cost £800 to do. I really don't have this sort of money especially before xmas.

Any other suggestions ?

Systems rarely need power flushing, 'ammer.
Maybe if it's quite old, with min/microbore pipework. Otherwise, flush it yourself with a cleanser .........

When the revolution comes, these people will be the first to the wall..... or maybe second, behind damp-proofing "surveyors" with their silly damp meters ;o)

Thanks guys. Just spoke to my pal who's a plumber and he said he wouldn't power flush any system over 10 years old anyway as it could make the radiators leak (ive already had 3 go this year)

So ive got this stuff called sentinel X800 jetflo....he said turn the water off then drain down about 2 bucket fulls and put this stuff in the header tank. Allow to circulate for a few days then drain the system down and see what happens. I have 2 litre bottles of the stuff so might put one in and then do it again next week.

I had problems with my living room and kitchen radiators, they were hot at the top, but barely warm at the bottom.
a local plumber removed them from the wall, took them outside and flushed them out with a hosepipe.
the water coming out was black
he replaced them back on, added some liquid to the system, and they are much hotter
he charged me £90
