Can anyone suggest what I can plant in my raised beds once my salad crops and runner beans have finished cropping. I have already planted cabbage seeds in the bed I had my peas growing. Already have parsnips and carrots growing well in other beds. These will be empty by September and November. It just seems a shame that they will be redundant all over the winter, any suggestions will be gratefully received.

I've had a great deal of success with garlic planted in Oct/Nov.
Late season planting is an art here in the western U.S. The University of Minnesota offers serious gardeners advice in late season planting and some should fit your needs. Seen here:
