I have above nearly 3 years now and from (talked about this before) the beginning all the rings go to high and the fan cuts it down to a lower temperature resulting in quite slow to start boiling. It tells you this in the manual.

Is there anyway I could get a professional to rip the fan out.

I don't see why not.
A fan on the rings? That's a new one on me, but then I'm no expert on cookers.

You don't mean the overhead extractor fan?
Question Author
No Builder not the extractor - it actually tells you in the manual.
Quite out of my depth here, Jenny. I really can't imagine why you need to cool the rings. They have thermostats after all.

I need to see the manual. What's the model?

A fan is usually in the oven and separate from the 'rings' which are where you use saucepans,
give us the model Name/number we'll have a look at the Manual online.

Guessing it's ok now!
Question Author
No it is not okay - the rings have been cooling from day one 3 years ago and I hate it. Just in from work so hopefully have model no tomorrow.
It sounds similar to my cooker with a ceramic hob. The ring heats the ceramic to temperature then cuts out. When it has cooled a little it kicks back in again. I start everything on high and turn it down once it reaches the temperature I am looking for.
There's no fan to rip out though. That's in the oven.
Jenny...if it's happened from day 1 why didn't you sort it while it was still under warranty?

Phone Zanussi....
Question Author
sorry all if I confused you a bit when I mentioned cooker rings.

did really mean ceramic hobs as Frognog mentioned. Thanks for that Froggie.

Does it bother you as one doesn't have control of the hob rings.
Question Author
Well Frog - that is exactly what I do but apart from buying a new cooker (which next time) I will be aware of that problem.

I will now learn to live with it. Thanks again.
It bugs me sometimes too jennyjoan, especially when I want to maintain a very high heat, but I'm sort of used to it now and if it clicks off, I just turn it up a bit.
Question Author
Frog - what is cooling it down if not a fan.
It just switches off jennyjoan. The ceramic holds the heat. It clicks on and off.

Do you still have the box your cooker came in?
Question Author
Baldric - oh no.
Why don't you phone Zanussi?

Ok, It was just a thought, there might have been instructions/explanations on there, like, say with IT Equipment!
Question Author
Am going to read the manual again. Will report back. Something tells me however, that the hob/rings do cool down according to manual.
Question Author
Well have perused the manual and can't find anywhere where it says hobs will cool. 3 years ago I must have misread fan for cooling or something like that since I never had a fan assisted cooker before.

Didn't know Zanussi is part of the family of Electrolux so have emailed them asking if this is the norm - heat to cool in too short a period.

I am prepared to pay for an engineer as of course guarantee is way up. Will let you know when I hear from them again. JjCon
