Do I need a new ch pump, at present mine sounds like a Lancaster bomber coming in. I've tried putting towels between the pipes but the vibration sounds are quite considerable.
Any help would be greatly appreciated (or ear plugs)!

There are only two reasons for that kind of noise, Wired.
Possibly it's air in the pump, or ...

Much more likely though is ...... it's had its day. Or, as my father was fond of saying, "it was made too soon" ;o)

Thanks,Builder, thought that may be the case...love your father's saying.

If it is air in the pump – then by releasing the bleed screw at the rear of the pump and allowing a small amount of water to drain, may fix the problem.

The bleed screw will either be a hexagonal plastic knob which can be operated by hand – or it may require a flat blade screw driver.

Thanks Hymie, will try that tomorrow, fingers crossed
Hi Wired
Have you tried using a long screwdriver as a "stethoscope" ?? I kid you not. Place the tip of the screwdriver on the body of the pump and your ear to the handle. This will amplify any "graunching" noises inside the pump as it turns, and should help you decide (should) whether the pump has had it or not. Hope this helps.

Hi fbg40, you don't have a camera near my heating pump do you, I will now feel a little insecure with a screwdriver in my ear but non the less will give it a go!
