Just had a quote from British Gas for a new condensing combi boiler to replace our old Ravenheat one, which has become problematical. Most advice seems to be to get three different quotes to compare, but the boiler recommended by BG (Worcester 533 Compact - 33kw + 13.5l/min flow) is exclusive to them. Anyone know whether there is a comparable product that another quote could be based on?
I found a local gas fitter to fit mine 3 years ago. It is a Worcester Greenstar 28i Junior. We live in a two bed house with seperate lounge and dining room with Kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor to the rear. Local gas fitter charged me £1750 including VAT to supply and fit the boiler. It was a straight replacement but we did need a new gas pipe fitting as regulations had changed since the last install and this was included in the price.
I enquired with BG to schedule a date for quotation, but was told if I was looking for a cheap price go somewhere else. They said in general it will be more than £4000. So thanks for being honest and I had someone else to install for £3000. Which included new run of gas pipe, 4 new radiators, magnatec filter, wireless programmable thermost at, combi Vaillant boiler. Removed all old boiler cylinder etc.
