My boiler packed up just after xmas and so far I've had 3 quotes to supply and fit a new boiler and they range from £3400 to £3800 for a floor standing condensing boiler.
I've googled the price of the boilers and they cost between £1250 and £1500, why are they so much dearer to install than a gas boiler?

Thanks, a shivering PankySmooch!

Crikey! you can get an oil condensing boiler? Never new that.
According to http://www.servicemagic.co.uk/resources/cost-guides/boiler-installation-cost-prices/#oilboilerinstallationcosts a Grant Vortex Pro External combi oil boiler costs £2,310 plus between £600 and £1,000 to fit.
If you could find a cheaper boiler I would expect the fitting costs to be similar.
PS....that seems expensive. Are you swapping combi for combi or swapping from a conventional boiler.Have they quoted for a Grant combi..they are one of the best.

I had a normal boiler, ie water tank in the loft and cylinder in the cupboard upstairs, the price was for a similar boiler, Grant Vortex not a combi boiler
