I've been in my new home since last September. The electrics were partially updated when I moved in but I'm wondering if I should have a complete update. The house was built in 1962. I had all the celings re plastered and all rooms re decorated with new fitted carpet's. I don't fancy all the good work being undone but I'm thinking about being on the safe side. I had an electrician out to fit new spot lights and he told me it's just a matter of choice as the electrics could go on for another 10 odd years but I need others opinions. tia.
So you have reason to believe that the electrics are dangerous ? You could always pay an electrician to test it all out for you, but you have already been informed by one that they do not thin it necessary. For sure things are easier if you do them before all the decoration, but too late for that now. I'd be inclined to leave anything that isn't actually causing you issues.
Old_Geezer, That's what the electrician told me,in other words if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I have'nt had any problems with the electrics so far so I'll do a bit more thinking and decide. Thanks!
I was going to phone a "leccie" to come out but then I remembered that I'm covered by British Gas as I have Dual Fuel. One of their leccie's is coming tomorrow to check,no charge.yessss!
