Backing Paper

do I need to use backing paper if I wallpaper a wall as it is slightly patchy with lumps I cannot sand to much as it is a plasterboard wall. thanks

no it has only been painted loads of times and is in a poor condition.cheers

Depends on the finish you would be satisfied with. Each layer smooths out imperfections. But nothing will disguise large lumps. It's a personal decision. If in doubt, use it.
