What surface is safe for a playground area?

What can you afford? There's a surface made from recycled rubber chippings which is dry, clean and springy. Expensive though - I think around �30 per square yard. Otherwise try rough bark chippings which you can buy from a timber mill for a couple of hundred pounds per large lorry load. This will cover a big area to a depth of a foot or so and be just as safe as the rubber but not so clean and dry.
frist is the size of the playground. If it a family playground then sand is the best.
