Just purchased my first ever standard rose and had a difficult transfer to its permanent container. When it finally came out, the compost did not hold its shape and fell all over the place! I quickly got it into its container, I added fertiliser and well watered, but now I can see it beginning to wilt!!
What to do if I get up in the morning & find all new growth drooping over??
Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
The only other advice, other than the excellent advice you already have, is to provide the plant with a suitable stake to prevent 'wind rock', this will help good root development and help it to become established quicker.
Thanks Chipchopper- I have double staked already......and good news after a quick spot check- wilting has stopped! (Buds just forming are pointing upward again) Will check again first thing in the morning.....
Checked this morning and looked fully recovered......however later in the afternoon it began to wilt in the sun! Later still -presently approx. 6pm -recovered again. I think it will need some shelter & pampering maybe for another day or two.
