Spalted Wood

I intend to make boxes using my bandsaw and scroll saw. Can anyone tell me where I can purchase any type of spalted timber approx 5" x 5" x 12" or longer.

These days, wood from tree works is usually stacked in yards, processed and eventually go's to biomass, heating energy etc.
It may be worth your while contacting your local authority's tree officer or forestry team to possibly intercept a few logs en route for recycling.
The sizes of the timber that you mention is roughly the size of logs cut for handling.
If you're lucky, there might be some nice spalted beech or sycamore available.
