Well it started last night....but as it went on past midnight I'll count it as today's bliss.....

I was given a snazzy fire pit and two sacks of Irish peat as a present....

When the rain finally stopped we lit the fire and sat around drinking wine and enjoying the beautiful smell of turf burning...........

Lucky you.....

the ex and I came back from Ireland with a load of peat to burn on our fire and my homemade bbq pit (Chinese build number 6 - as we christened it)....lovely.
Ah you did get around to lighting it then, gness. Were the fire brigade on standby ?.

Ah.....yes we did, Tony.....but not without a little blip.....but I burned nothing down......☺
Wow!

That's my type of woman! One who regards a couple of bags of peat as a nice present! So why is that a couple of sacks of nutty slack have never got me anywhere with women?
Fire pits seem to be the 'in thing' just now. Daughter built one and is planning a get together of Friday evening so I'm hoping it stays nice. BBQ, wine and music. Looking forward to it.

Did you forget to gift wrap them maybe, Chris?.... ;-)

Never had a fancy for one, BB til I went to a family do recently and my cousin had received turf as a present........took me back home to Ireland.....so I dropped a few hints......
Well, for pete's sake: there's nothing like the smell of burning turf in the evening.
Will peat briquettes do?
Does Irish Peat smell like pork as he gently cooks on the fire?
You've had some very unusual gifts gness, but they always seem to fit in with your plans. Nice that you can enjoy them. I've never been at lucky.
being told my piping was fine for a new condenser boiler with no need to rip up all my floors !!!
A lovely way to spend an evening, Gness. I can smell that peat from here.
