There is a tree growing in the lane beside my house, the leaves of which cause a lot of problems for me. Apart from cutting down the tree, how can I stop this tree from bearing leaves in future.

Any help appreciated

I have exactly the same problem with a tree behind my house. Tree officer has looked at it and said that unless it is Dead, Dying or Diseased they will not do anything about it. As cassa says you can cut it right back to the edge of your boundary but be careful as the forth D can come into force, that is that it becomes Dangerous and if that happens then you could become liable for any damage it causes.
TWR 8:01...unless you knock a few thousand copper nails in the tree they will have little effect ..apart from aiding photosynthesis that is.Learn to live with it sky.If you report it to the council and its a healthy tree it will soon attract a preservation order.
