We did this about 6 years go because I suffer with arthritis and had trouble getting in and out of the bath. We have never looked back! Apart from it being easier getting it and out of (I do use a shower stool whilst in there) I find it more hygienic and quicker.
We bought a shower tray the same size as a standard bath, tiled from tray to ceiling on three sides and put a put length enclosure with sliding doors in the middle.
We did this seven years ago because I was diagnosed with epilepsy and a bath was considered a risk. Since then, I have never regretted the decision to get rid of the bath. With the bath out, we were able to put in a large shower, which contains a waterproof chair and footstool. I love to sit and wash my hair with the warm water cascading down, and I never miss the bath at all. Go for it, we have never regretted the change.
We did it years ago and have never regretted it. Only time it is a minor problem is when the grandkids are babies. We put a baby bath in the shower unit when they are tiny and when they become toddlers someone goes in the shower with them.
Do it! Baths are a waste of space, time and water - on the very rare occasions when I think I fancy a bath, by the time it has filled I've gone off the whole idea.
