Seed Packets - Upside Down?!
I am quite new to planting and growing veg and have a bit of a weird question.
I have bought a lot of packets of seeds recently. But it looks to me that the opening is at the bottom of the packet? Am I missing something obvious?!

Opening Seed Packets
Such is our enthusiasm to get going with our spring sowing, many of us open our new packets of seeds by ripping them open across the top. Unfortunately by doing so we invariably end up ripping right through the invaluable information on the back of the seed packet about when to sow and harvest the vegetables inside (or the "best before" date). So until seed producers realise that it would make more sense to have this information on the bottom of the packet, here’s a little tip: to open your seed packet rip across the bottom of the packet, not the top! You still get at the seeds and you leave all that vital information intact!

Thanks for the tip Mamyalynne - and that is exactly my point ie you open the flap at the bottom so that you don't rip off important info at the top!
I end up opening the packets at the flap at the bottom and then have to double fold it to make sure the seeds don't fall out of the bottom when I set the package upright to read from it. Why on earth are they not packed in a more user friendly way?!

I just assumed that this was a convenient way to package the seeds, so that it is possible for anyone to use the empty packet as a temporary marker for your freshly sown seeds.
I usually place the empty packet on top of a cane, so I can distinguish what crop ie carrot or onion, will later appear in each row.
