Why don't you have a word with a dry cleaners, i'm sure they'd answer your questions. Good Luck.
The best one on the market is the Elna Press available from John Lewis. It is pricey but well worth it and I do all my ironing with it. It takes a bit of getting used to the new way of ironing but you soon do . I do not know which make Chessman had, I do not understand what you mean about getting rid of the steam. On the Elna there is just a small attachment which has the water in and you just squirt the spray on to the fabric. You never need to empty it, and there is not much steam. The difference in the price with some of the cheaper ones is that the Elna has a willow board inside and it will not warp with the steam like some cheaper ones. If your cover wears out (after a couple of years!) you can get replacements.
