Can anyone identify what causes this and how to stop them ?

I first thought it may be earthworms, but my sister suggested ants. So I thought I'd canvas for further opinions.

Whatever is causing it, they are all over my extensive drive. Only realised how bad it all was after I jet washed everywhere at the front and noticed how many and how fast they appeared.

Darned nuisance.

Moles ? Does look like worms though.

If it's worms I wish they stick to the flowerbeds and lawn, not the drive.

Any thoughts on how to dissuade them ?
Yes, worm casts, I always get them at this time of year.
I usually sweep them away with a besom.
That would do my head in. Is it caused perhaps by you jetwashing making it damp?
Question Author
Possibly, but we get enough rain most times anyway :-)
judging by the hole next to it I`d say worm excretions
It's good soil. Sweep it up and put it on the garden, OG.
Always thought worm casts were good for the garden - full off essential goodies for plants. Get rid of them by sweeping up and putting in beds or plant pots.
