i'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but i'm trying to help a teacher stick plastic beads to a brass pipe. We tried a couple of superglues, but they just melted the plastic.

any suggestions of what is best to use? it needs to be a fairly strong bond as it will be used in a drama sketch.

I'd probably roughen the surface of the pipe slightly with sandpaper and then use epoxy resin.
Have you tried a hot glue gun ? You would only need the tiniest speck of glue to do the job - but mind your fingers, its VERY hot.
Hi,  some plastics will just not stick with epoxy resins etc... actually silicon sealer/waterproofer will stick almost anything to anything including glass and can also be removed later with no damage to surfaces,  the downside is that it takes time to cure so the parts have to be held/taped in place for a couple of hours.
Araldite sticks almost everything.
Try small blobs of wall-tile cement, but roughen pipe first
