Self tapping screws

I am fixing a down pipe bracket to my caravan and intend using self tappers no 8 . should i use a no6 drill pilot hole first

Don`t even go there C/B no matter how much you try and silicone around the screws etc. it ain`t worth it. If yer vans a newish one your warranty will probably be void. Stick the brackets on with no-nails or sticks like s**t.
