I have just purchased a 'log cabin' type outside building. It is a Scandanavian Pine and has been delivered untreated.

What product is the best and most economical to protect the exterior?

Thanks

In my opinion it would be old fashioned creosote. Its very cheap, goes a long way, is easy to apply, and will preserve the wood for ages. The downsides are that it is not available in a range of colours, its rather smelly for a while after aplication, its not really very 'green', and will eventually need to be re-done, although I guess that is true of any product. The modern coloured wood treatments are very good, and can be applied by spray gun which is nice if you have a big area to treat, but they are very epensive.

Creosote is no longer available to the retail market.

Try SADOLIN -quite expensive but worth it
