Cheeky Magpies ..

This isn't my garden, found this on YouTube. I witnessed exactly this on my garden fence, couldn't believe it. Surely a cat could take a magpie out? Why are they not feared?

They are very protective and aggressive especially if they have a nest nearby, cats usually decide getting away is the best option.

I was really surprised mamya! Just happened to catch it through the kitchen window.

I've seen it here too, it's amazing.

They even dive bomb cars that park too close to the tree they are in too.

I know they're a large bird, but they're quite fearless aren't they.

Indeed they are.

I must say, it didn't surprise me at all.
even one magpie will sometimes see off a cat.

I guess they're both very teritorial in their nature.

I used to have a dog who was a fearless huntress when she was allowed to be. Happily she was very obedient and loved people so she didn’t go through life making mayhem. The only time I ever saw her back down was in the face of a robin! I guess the robin had a nest to protect because he/she flew at the dog and was pecking and fluttering around her head and would not stop. Poor dog backed off and ran indoors.
