What's the best way to iron a linen suit. Do I iron it through a tea towel or do I put the iron straight onto the material?

Thanks for the replies. Boo, an iron is something we use on the east side of the Pennines ;-)
Dry cleaners..... my best advice!
And don't sit down in it afterwards.
You can iron on it direct, if you don't mind it becoming shiny. Linen is best ironed wet, or very damp. You used to be able to get a sort of "sleeve" or "shoe" for the iron which prevented the fabric from going shiny. But if I were you, I'd get a dry-cleaner just to press it. Some dry-cleaners will just press stuff you have washed yourself.

Used a damp tea towel to iron the suit. It looks great...till the next time I wear it :-)
Well B00, it's what use use when too near to use a wood, and too far away to used the putter.

In fact, don't sit down, or move in any way while wearing a linen suit....just stand perfectly still.

I had some linen trousers many years ago, and when I had to drive anywhere, I took them off and drove the car in my pants. Good job I never got stopped by the boys in blue !

Pass the Brain Bleach please ^^ ;o)
The mind boggles Mikey - I'm going for a lie down to recover
Its was lovely and cool though !
After half an hour of wearing a linen suit my friend looked as though he'd slept in a skip wearing it!
Insufficient starch ?
