Plantation Shutters
I think they should be just fine as they are but my husband thinks we should have heavy curtains as well to make it more cosy but that will take away the clean lines I'm after.
What do you folk think?

Both options have their advantages, and it's essential to consider factors such as light control, privacy, aesthetics, and maintenance. Here are some considerations for each:
Plantation Shutters:
Clean Lines and Modern Look: Plantation shutters are known for their clean and modern appearance. They provide a timeless and sophisticated look that complements various interior styles.
Light Control: Plantation shutters offer excellent control over natural light. You can easily adjust the louvers to let in the desired amount of light while maintaining privacy.
Low Maintenance: They are relatively easy to clean and maintain compared to heavy curtains, making them a practical choice for busy households.
Heavy Curtains:
Cozy and Warm Feel: Heavy curtains can add a sense of coziness and warmth to a room. They provide additional insulation, making them suitable for colder climates.
Versatility in Style: Curtains come in a wide range of fabrics, patterns, and colors, allowing for greater versatility in achieving specific styles or themes.
Sound Insulation: Thick curtains can provide some level of sound insulation, which might be a consideration depending on the location of your home.
Balancing Both:
Layered Look: If you want a combination of both, consider a layered look. You can install plantation shutters for practical reasons and add lighter, sheer curtains for a softer aesthetic.
Functional Zones: In some cases, homeowners use both options in different areas of the home. For example, you might opt for plantation shutters in common areas and heavy curtains in bedrooms for a cozy and private feel.
Ultimately, the choice between plantation shutters and heavy curtains is a personal one. It may be helpful to discuss your priorities and preferences with your husband to find a solution that satisfies both your desire for clean lines and his preference for a cozy atmosphere.
