Plantation Shutters

Was thinking of getting plantation shutters for my house.
I think they should be just fine as they are but my husband thinks we should have heavy curtains as well to make it more cosy but that will take away the clean lines I'm after.
What do you folk think?

Just to be clear, this isn't about my relationship with my husband, it's in the home section, not relationships.

I'm just trying to establish weather its usual to have curtains with them or not.

Sorry Darcy, mischievousness got the better of me. Yes it is normal to have curtains with plantation blinds as they 'soften' the window. One persons 'clean lines' is another's 'cold hash edges'.

I would say that blinds cut out light and give privacy. However they don't do much to help thermal insulation, which is necessary in this country. I would side with hubby on this.

In my last house had both shutters and curtains..was an old 150 + year old place so shutters looked appropriate, not so sure in a modern build...unless you live in a very sunny climate, curtains keep the place warm and cosy.
