A friend of ours painted hall and landing, using a matt finish in magnolia. The thing is, I wanted him to do it in silver finish as it cleans easier. He persuaded me that matt would look better as it hides any little imperfections
Also, it's just as easy to wipe over if we get any dirty marks or smudges. After a couple of weeks I noticed a slight dark mark along the hall. So I dampened cloth with a mild detergent on and rubbed gently. Well, it looked awful after! I wish I'd stuck to my guns and had the silk.
I am in the throes of getting my hall stairs and landing finished hopefully tomorrow and after looking at magnolia for years and years I have gone for snow white - also snow white bannisters, louvre doors etc etc and I absolutely love it. Mine too is matt but don't care - Patsy just give the mark a smudge of your paint
If I was unable to do the job myself & asked a friend to do it, I decide on the Colour, he get's paid to do the job & that's it, you should have told him, this is the colour "End Of"
It was the right colour twr, sorry, I see I put silver instead of silk! He's a Friend who has done painting and decorating for a living. He's a lovely person too
If I do a paint job for whoever Pasty and the paint is bought for the job by whoever, I certainly make sure it's the right colour / shade/ gloss / Silk /Matt, that's before I start, he should NOT HAVE Persuaded you otherwise.
Matt does hide surface imperfections better. But if your need a washable wallpaper because of a risk of marks, then you need to choose one that claims that.
